Onemeeting.com is going to hold plastic-free meetings for single use

Onemeeting.com is once again greening and drawing the Dopper Wave. After launching “Climate neutral meetings” in 2019 they are now also banning all plastic disposable water bottles from their offices. In addition, they always drink tap water when possible, they use reusable water bottles and they will inspire others to join the Dopper Wave. To emphasize this, a new facility has been live on Onemeeting.com in the search results since today, with which bookers of meeting locations can search for locations with the facility: Single use plastic free. With this they call on all (meeting) locations in the Netherlands to stop using disposable plastic.

Launch Single use plastic free label
This initiative fits in seamlessly with the new law that came into effect on 3 July whereby the EU bans disposable plastic items such as straws, cutlery, plates, cotton swabs and balloon sticks. “We notice that customers and tenders are increasingly asking for sustainable locations. If we can contribute to reducing the plastic soup in the sea in this way, that is of course great. Every year, 8 billion kilograms of plastic end up in the oceans, including many plastic water bottles. By signing the Dopper Wave, we are going to fight against plastic disposable water bottles together with Dopper,” says CEO of Onemeeting.com Luc van Bussel. With small, daily actions, together with all employees at Onemeeting.com, they will save about 5.000 disposable water bottles annually.

Savings per year
The locations that are booked through Onemeeting.com receive approximately 400.000 guests per year. If they can encourage these guests not to use disposable water bottles, they can save over 800.000 disposable water bottles. The Onemeeting.com platform contains more than 1600 locations where bookers can search, compare and book a location for their meeting. Onemeeting.com encourages these locations to become single use plastic free, which goes even further than just no plastic disposable water bottles. In that case, no single-use plastic may be offered. Such as plastic bags, straws, coffee stirrers and food packaging.

Collaboration Dopper & Onemeeting.com
“With the Dopper Wave, we want to inspire people and organizations to make adjustments in their daily lives that will have a major impact: cleaner oceans. We are very proud that together with Onemeeting.com we are making single use plastic free meetings the new norm. With this we not only inspire all 1600 locations listed on Onemeeting.com, but also all 400.000 guests!” said Virginia Yanquilevich, CEO of Dopper. By signing the Dopper Wave, Onemeeting.com joins a growing international movement consisting of more than 4.500 sustainable leaders such as Bol.com, WWF, de Bijenkorf and Auping, who jointly draw attention to the problem of plastic pollution from disposable water bottles.
